John Shepard, owner of Carpet One Floor & Home in Panama City, FL, leads his community through his role as local Toys for Tots coordinator for Bay County. John has been volunteering as coordinator since 2004. Each year, he organizes a community-wide toy drive. His Carpet One Floor & Home showroom becomes the home base for his operations.
Through a network of volunteers – from other business owners to high school students – John coordinates the collection of thousands of toys for the Bay County community.
The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.
Toys for Tots’ Mission is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.
